Basement Waterproofing Specialist
Waterproofing a foundation requires a surface treatment and a drainage pipe. Protecting it from moisture is an entirely different process! Waterproofing is a more permanent solution and requires cement treatment methods applied to the foundation wall. At Santa Rita Drywall Repair, we offer long-term waterproofing solutions that will give you peace of mind for years to come. There are many waterproofing solutions and techniques on the market, and we have a wide range of them to offer, as well as products to ensure the right treatments are applied every time.
Waterproofing vs moisture protection for your basement foundation.
Yes, there is a big difference between these two solutions when it comes to waterproofing your basement! Moisture sealing your foundation is usually done during construction to meet minimum building code requirements. Damp proofing uses a moisture-resistant material that consists of hot asphalt and a rubber coating, along with an insulation board. Although this solution is effective against moisture, it does not provide complete protection against water. Damp proofing is only applied internally, so water can still enter the foundation from the outside.
On the other hand, foundation waterproofing prevents water (caused by the rise and fall of the water table beneath the concrete) from entering the basement foundation. Foundation waterproofing systems are applied from the outside to prevent water from penetrating through the foundation.
If you are unsure of the treatment applied to your home or business, whether it is waterproofing or a waterproofing system, take note. Call us today for a free waterproofing information consultation!
Waterproofing Solutions
There are two options for waterproofing: interior and exterior.
1. Interior waterproofing
The interior waterproofing method is selected based on two criteria:
1) The site is not accessible from the outside, because space is limited or there is no access.
2) The problem occurs when the water table rises below the concrete block and the water penetrates through the wall or foundation floor.
“Basement waterproofing is the key to preventing mold and promoting air quality!”
One of the mistakes that many homeowners make when it comes to water or moisture in their basement is that they tend to let things go until the weather is more favorable for them. It is important to know that water damage will worsen over time and may require the services of mold removal specialists. Waiting not only increases the cost of repairing such damage, but also poses a risk to your health.
Common causes of damp in the basement
– Clogged drains and pipes
– Faulty waterproofing near utility entrances.
– Lack of a drainage system (such as a sump pump).
2. The waterproofing of exterior walls
Exterior foundation wall waterproofing improves the structural integrity of the foundation and prevents your foundation walls from deteriorating. The solutions offered by Solage Solide allow you to strengthen your home’s foundation as water weakens foundation structures and creates settlements that cause cracks and swaying floors.
Common causes of moisture outside the basement
– Water accumulation near window wells
– Block or brick foundation
– Leaks in waterproofing
